Christmas and New Year Message 2010

All scriptures handed down the ages are conclusive that 'God is Spirit' – moreover 'God made man in His own image'. The image cannot be but spirit.

As God is infinite, i.e. not subject to death, then man in his own essence can also be not subject to death – he is conscious entity, a drop of the ocean of all consciousness, and indweller in the body, and on account of that the body is working.

God is a living presence within our being – controlling us in the body. Both soul and God reside in our bodies, but we are identified with the body so much so that we have forgotten our own self. We are under a grand delusion and cannot see the world in its right perspective. Unless we know ourselves by rising above body-consciousness, how can we know God who is residing with us in the body?

Truly speaking, manbody is the temple of God. We should therefore be conscious of our divine nature, and try to regain our God-head. For that, you turn away completely from outside and outgoing faculties for a while, and close yourself in the closet of your body. The ringing radiance of God will become effulgent.

God is eternal, all wisdom, all happiness, so you are the same. Mind that you and God are one, you can never be separated. He is ever with you, enlivening you. His life is your life, and you cannot live without Him – so you have nothing to fear.

Man is what he thinks about all day long. One can only live one moment at a time. Emerson said, "There is no moment in eternity more important than this moment." All real good or evil that may befall him is from himself. If a man lives in a good or bad way in the real present, he will ensure the same in the future. If you have bad thoughts for others, you will harm not them only but yourself as well, as thoughts are very potent.

So try to live in the living present, forgetting the past and the future – and fill every moment of your life with simple trust in Him in all loving devotion. He will manifest in you when you choose and turn your face to Him.

As loving advice I give you, from this moment let love be your constant companion and trust Him in all things. God is love and love is God, and the way back to God is also through love. Guru Gobind Singh says, "Hear ye all, I tell the truth; God is attained through love."

Rest assured that He is with you always, and be of good cheer.

With all best wishes,
Yours affectionately, Kirpal Singh

Birthday Message 1960

Birthday Message 1960

Written by Sant Kirpal Singh, 1960

Time is an interminable eternity with no beginning and no end except as man has for his own convenience, in his own limitations, tried to limit it and make separate divisions out of it. With all these ruthless vivisections, eternity remains ever in love with the products of time and is willing to unfold the secrets of heaven and earth to him who reposes his trust and faith in her benignity.

Birthdays are but arbitrary milestones of life's journey on earth, but they do serve a very useful purpose, all the same. As one crosses each division of time and steps into the other, he is reminded of a stage left behind and finds himself a step nearer to the journey's end. Each birthday, therefore, offers a splendid opportunity to the traveler to know where he stands, how he has fared on the path of life, what progress he has made, and what he intends to do next with new hopes, new aspirations, and new resolutions for the new year that lies ahead of him. It is an occasion for taking a comprehensive view of the stock-in-life gathered already to be garnered thereafter, and it can, as such, be profitably made use of to the best advantage.

On a day like this, I can only ask you who have been put on the Path Godwards to turn within and see, each one for himself or herself, as to the measure of advance made in the spiritual field. Blessed indeed are those who have done so and to them my message is that they should persevere in full faith and confidence in the Master-Power overhead and work hard to regain all the inheritance which is theirs and of which they have a foretaste. To those who are yet standing still for one reason or another, I would commend some sort of active striving with a will and a purpose. After all, each one has to make an experiment on his own and no one can vicariously do it for another. Again, there is no ill without a remedy, and this sovereign and potent remedy is to be applied, whether we will it or not, by oneself if we desire a cure; or else the disease of ignorance shall continue to persist and persist endlessly as it has done through ages upon ages.

Last but not least, the door of Salvation is open to all. It is not a prerogative for any one sect, caste, or creed or even a religious order. Whosoever may run, can reach it. "Knock and it shall be opened unto thee" has been the message of saints and seers since the beginning of time. God is the God of all mankind and His Grace shines equally on all, but they alone who turn towards Him derive the greatest benefit. 'Love' is the master key that unlocks the door leading to the 'Kingdom of Light.' "Love and all things shall be added unto thee" is an axiomatic truth that has stood the test of time. It is, therefore, said - "Love God with all thy mind, with all thy heart, with all thy strength, and with all thy soul."

My message today is none other than that of Love. Learn ye, therefore, to love all creatures as yourself. Live in and for the love of all and the Lord of Love shall reward you manifold in return for the sake of His own Divine Love. That is His Law, eternal and immutable. Try to cultivate a loving and a living faith in His Goodness and nothing shall stand in your way on the Path.

This is the only message that you can have from me on this occasion. I extend to you all my loving greetings with a Soulful Love and Benediction. May you all arise and awaken in His Consciousness.

The Mission is the life of the life for the Master

His mission is to establish a contact between the disciple and the Master. Mission means the purpose for which He (Master) came into the world or for which they (Masters) have always come into the world. This purpose has never changed. The teaching has always remained one and the same but the commandments of the Master differed from time to time in accordance with the prevalent condition of the time.

Who is the Master?

When God wished to create His expression, He created the Satpurusha. The Satpurusha was not the son of man, He was given the power to manifest in the world.

The Satpurusha has the key to lock one age and unlock the other, and all human beings and other living forces change likewise. This Power neither goes nor comes but manifests forever. The one who comes through Him connects all direct to Him. Such ones are called Paramsants.

As we cannot tell anything about God, so we cannot tell anything about the Master. In fact, they are not separate, it is the God in Him who works. Sehjo Bhai says, "God and my Guru both are standing before me, before whom should I bow? I bow before my Master who gave me the clue to know God."

Gurudev is the radiant form of the Master and sustains in every
Gurudev is the Master of the whole creation.
Gurudev is the Satguru, Parabrahm and Parameshwar (the highest Being).
O Nanak, a salutation to the Gurudev is a salutation to God.
Gurbani

Don't think evil of others

(download)

Never hurt anybody. We hurt others by thinking ill of them. We think ill of others, we scheme. This is wrong, as thoughts are very potent. When you think ill of others that reacts to them like a telegraphic wire. You may not be telling anybody anything but if you think of them, radiation is there.

World Conference 1974

This is a gathering for peace and we have here heads of many religious formations and our worthy defence minister, to think out ways of peace. After the speech of the defence minister there is not much left to say on the subject. I have only this to say that God made man the roof and crown of all creation. Next to God is man, the scriptures proclaim:

Sarb joon teri panhari, Sarb mein teri Sikdari. (Gurbani)
'O man, thou art the highest in all creation, the whole world is created for thy service.’

But first he has to become in the true sense of the world. We are all born the same way, endowed with the same privileges from God and have the same inner and outer construction. Man is, however, a composite being, a conscious entity, having a body.

What is the meaning of man? One who is overflowing with love and compassion; who knows himself and knows God. He loves God and since God resides in all hearts he loves all creation. God is love, and man, who is of the same essence as God is an embodiment of love. One who gives out the Godly radiation of love man truly be called a man. The outer labels of the various formations that we are carrying are all right. The real purpose of all formations or social bodies is to turn out perfect men who as man-body should reflect the glory of man and as soul, the indweller of the body, the glory of God. He should realise his true self of being God plus man i.e. Godman and as such be an embodiment of love. And love knows service and sacrifice, so he should think of the good of others and not of his own interest.

So the ideal of manhood is that he should he a brother unto all creation. He should earn his livelihood by honest toil and share with others. If we have such Pak (pure) people in large numbers the world will become Pakistan (i.e. the land of the pure) and if we have a preponderance of khalis (pure) people the world would become Khalistan (i.e. the land of Khalsa or the pure) and they may bring the Kingdom of God on earth. That country is good which has a larger number of such people. So man should live for others. He who will not let his brother man go hungry or naked thereby ensures his own fulfilment for God who resides in all hearts will surely provide for him.

Forever with Him

35 years ago, on August 21 1974 Sant Kirpal Singh left his physical body

"O my Master, You are very beautiful and somebody should bring You back so that I can see Your beautiful face again.
When I will see Your face again I will not get tired and I will kiss your feet.
You have given the initiation to so many, and many children are crying for You and You should show the further way to them.
There is nobody who can understand my heart and to whom should I speak? So I am looking everywhere to see You again, Your beauty, but I can't see outwardly."
- from a poem written by Sant Kirpal Singh when Baba Sawan Singh left His body

Mind

Question: Here in the ashram we don't have these outside thoughts pressing on us. We are in isolation. We don't get the news of the world. We don't have people coming in and gossiping and things like that, so it's much easier.

Sant Kirpal Singh: What did Christ say? "Shut yourself in a closet." What did He mean by that?

Question: Well, going in here (points to forehead), I'm sure.

Sant Kirpal Singh: Either that or – if you wan to see that newspaper, we'll give you one.  For awhile, you see, it is like a sort of training. For awhile, say a week, ten days, a month or so. If you're devoted regularly the whole time, from day to day you'll develop. When going to a Master anyway, the best thing for you is just to make the best use of your time – put in more time by developing receptivity. You've a hundred irons in the fire over there. Here I think you've not many. You might create many, that's up to you. But there are not many now.

Question: One should, I suppose, pull each of those irons out of the fire gradually as life goes by rather than leaving all of them in and including a few more.

Sant Kirpal Singh: I tell you. If you leave it to the mercy of the mind, that time will never come. The mind's work is to go overboard.

Question: Some of us are more inclined toward using the mind, aren't we? I mean, say, astrologically some people are more inclined toward mind things and have a bigger burden to start with?

Sant Kirpal Singh: Their further progress will be retarded. If for awhile you have to do something, do it and see. Our work is to see God. For instance, I will tell you: Go in and see Him first, then do anything you like. We begin to do many things before we see Him. That's all. For awhile, maybe a day – ten days – each day we should reserve some time for that purpose. That is a great helping factor. Reserve some time for that. If it is not a day or two at least some hours in the day, maybe two, three hours – just cut off from all outside. Shut yourself in the closet in the room and then nobody will disturb you. This comes from training of course – there's no high road to that.

Right understanding

Question: How many different levels should we understand you on?

Sant Kirpal Singh: As a man first; as a man to man. Then in the inner way, you see. First we are man. A man is required for guidance of men. If He comes from above then how can we hear Him? Master should be One Who has passed through His man life. You see the difference in Christ as the son-of-man and as a God-in-man? That's the first thing. When I went to the West they said, "He has got a human nature, the human touch." I'm a man first, of course. We should be man. Man should be perfect all around: physically, socially, lovingly. These are things only to be explained from the level of man. If you make sure everybody is fed, you won't remain hungry.  If you don't allow anybody to go naked – you won't go naked. That's the only thing we have to learn.

And for that, right understanding is: God made man with equal privileges. He has got the man-body. He is not the man-body but is the indweller of the body. He's a conscious entity: a drop of the ocean of all-consciousness. We're all brothers and sisters in God. That's the right understanding. If you think like that then right understanding and right thoughts will come – then right speech will result and right actions will follow.
